Originally from Madrid, Karina was raised between Spain and the West Coast of the U.S. At the university she majored in Clinical Psychology, and specialized in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. After finishing her degree, she interned at the Leo Kanner Center, where she worked with autistic children.
Her formal training as an actress began in Madrid at the William Leyton Laboratory, where she took an intensive method-technique acting course. She continued her acting classes at Central de Cine, where she completed a two-year degree in Acting for Film and TV. Over this period, she started working as an actress in short films and commercials. In the meantime, she took jazz dance lessons at Karen Taft, movement for actors at the Arnold Tarraborelli Studio, voice and speech training with Teresa González, singing lessons with Javier Bastias and French lessons at the Institut Français. She also continued some of her favorite hobbies such as horseback riding, snowboarding and skating.
In 2012 she moved to Barcelona and enrolled in a three-year degree in Filmmaking at the Bande à Part film school. She specialized in Film Direction and Screenwriting and directed several short films she wrote and pitched. She also participated in many other shootings of her colleagues, collaborating as an assistant director, casting director and producer. Meanwhile, she continued working as an actress and a voice actress throughout these years, and she got her first jobs in feature films, TV series and international shootings. Karina expanded her bases to Los Angeles in 2017 and continues training in Javier Galitó-Cava’s Meisner Program and with Hollywood acting coaches such as Margie Haber, KC Klyde, Diane Charles and Pyllis Katz.
